The forests of Kelardasht sprawls across an area of 40,000 hectares.
They are considered within the Caspian Hyrcanian mixed forests, which cover an area of nearly two million hectares and extend from the northern province of Gilan to Golidagh in Golestan Province in the country’s northeast.
The Caspian Hyrcanian mixed forests are home to more than 80 shrub and tree species.
